WHY COME TO COUNSELLING?

People come to counselling for many different reasons, and counselling can help you to deal with problems in your life that you may be struggling with. It could be something difficult at work or at home, a relationship problem or a health issue, or something distressing that happened to you in the past. You could be struggling to cope with a bereavement, or you may feel anxious, lost or empty. It could be one issue or a number of different issues. Sometimes problems can feel overwhelming and hard to cope with. Whatever is making you feel distressed, talking about it in a safe space with a trained counsellor who listens and understands can help you to work out how to deal with your problems and find a way forward.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

MY BACKGROUND

My name is Becky Field and I am a qualified counsellor based in Lancaster. I gained my Postgraduate Qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Cumbria, which is an approved training provider. Before going into private practice I worked as a volunteer counsellor at a local charitable organisation.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and my work is guided by the BACP code of ethics.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

“Thank you so much for all your help and support over the past 12 weeks. You always listened, guided me, gave me support to help understand. Thank you for being so caring and compassionate. You are an amazing counsellor”

"I met Becky in January 2024 following the loss of two very close family members, within 90 days of each other. For numerous reasons their deaths raised many questions for me and doubts about myself and my worth in the scheme of things. With incredible kindness, compassion, intelligence, extraordinary understanding of my needs, and not to mention copious amounts of tissues, in the eight months that followed she carefully allowed me to find answers, to find a path that had been invisible to me, to see a way to move forward and discover a new life, that was worth living. I shall be forever grateful that she came into my life, for the changes she let me make are truly wonderful."

MY THERAPY PRACTICE

I offer in person face-to-face counselling sessions. My counselling sessions are Person-Centred, which means that you decide what we talk about, and we work together at a pace that meets your needs and feels comfortable to you. I believe that the quality of our therapeutic relationship is key to determining how well we work together. By offering a caring therapeutic relationship that is built on trust, openness and understanding, I aim to provide you with an environment that feels secure and confidential, and where you feel accepted, valued and respected, and safe enough to talk about and explore your issues. I can help you to make sense of the things that are causing you distress and your thoughts and feelings about them. Talking about your problems in a safe, non-judgemental space can help you to find your inner strength to take control of them and to work out how to make changes to improve your life.
